From director Bill Forsythe's film "Comfort and Joy". Bill Paterson plays Alan "Dickie" Bird, a Glasgow radio DJ recovering from being dumped by his girlfriend. In this scene, he spots a beautiful girl (Clare Grogan) in the back of an ice cream van who smiles at him. He follows the van, purchases a 99 and gets involved in a war between rival ice cream companies.
The look on Bill Paterson's face, watching this inexplicable assault on an ice cream truck - it's the definition of 'stupefied.'

It's like Alice In Wonderland. He follows a bunny down a hole (Mr. Bunny ice cream truck through a tunnel), and experiences wild misadventures after that. This is my favourite scene in the film.

Genius movie in every manner, then again, anything Forsyth did is that way. I adore Local hero, too. Comfort & Joy was a brilliant gem!

Fabulous film, so subtle and understated. There's more gems to discover with every viewing.

Love the scene where they are recording the "Hello Folks" song and they keep doing it over and over rather than doing it once and looping it. Subtle comedy is such a rare commodity.
