I am a native of Vicksburg, MS and during a recent visit home, my mother drove me around to view the damage and destruction of this great disaster. I was in total awe and dismay when I witnessed how my hometown was being affected. It was very disheartening. I took pictures and decided to create this video to show the effects of this tragic event that is affecting so many people.

  • Excellent job depicting whats really going on.

  • @tgross1981: Thanks so much for your comment. I took these pictures on Monday, May 9th. As of today, Tuesday, May 17th the water has risen a lot more, almost completely covering the houses you saw in the video. It's soooo sad! More videos to come...

  • Any news on the condition of the civil war gunboat Cairo? Anyone knows, let me know please.

  • @1967mustanggta: No, I haven't heard anything about the USS Cairo Gunboat and Museum, just yet. It's located in the Vicksburg National Military Park and the park has not yet been affected by the flooding...to my knowledge. Thanks for asking!

  • i seen a part of the video where yoou took two pictures of my cousin moving out of his trailer he was in a boat.

  • @sherryatchley: OMG! Are you serious??? Seeing those people having to move out of their home using a boat is what really hit home for me! I was in tears! I'm really sorry...God bless your family!

  • @freddyfreak1999: Oh great! Thanks for letting us know! Did you have to travel far to see it???

  • @freddyfreak1999 Thanks for the update. It is such a great piece of history and really enjoyed seeing it a few years ago. Would hate to think anything happened to it. Quite a display but I thought it was on low ground near the river and could have suffered to the flood. Not at all making light of the many individuals who in fact are suffering from all this.

  • @amiitheadroitdiva Thanks for letting me know. This is a horrible situation for so many and I don't make light of that but would hate so much to hear that it had a negative effect on a unique national treasure as that gun boat which I had the opportunity to visit some years ago.
