How long did it take you?
What was the approximate cost (if you don't mind me asking)? I really would love a masonry heater, but the cost for a mason to make one is so expensive. My other option is a woodstove, which is winning right now.

@nhorzepa I spent around 4000, --,,Inital Firebrick and ornamental brick and Flue Set 2000, 500 chimmney pipe and pieces,260 for door frame,140 for glass door, three clean out doors from menards and masnry mix from menards100, another 6 bags of Flue set as I got going 75x6=450, Mitersaw300,Diamond Blade Blade60$, Rubberglove walmart, Rubber mallet, 4 foot level, Arch Brick From old kilns. It took around 2 months While working a job and on weekends. thanks

This was only to heat seperate section of a two part house, and I have a bread oven in the up stairs near the kitchen.
