Protesters, lead by a grassroots community coalition, stage a sit-down in front of the Chicago Climate Exchange to bring attention to the practice of profit motivated Trading of, and Futures Speculation in what amounts to the very Regulatory Standards which protect our shared "Public Commons" in metered and measured increments, as the basis for a predatory Financial Market.

Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) operates North Americas only cap and trade system for all six greenhouse gases, with global affiliates and projects worldwide.

Mobilization for Climate Justice
http://www.actforclimatejustice.org/2009/11/chicago-climate-activists-target-...
"The main target of todays action is the Chicago Climate Exchange, the first and largest carbon market in North America. Several other climate criminals were visited during a march, including JP Morgan Chase, one of the leading funders of mountain top removal coal mining; Midwest Generation, the owner of Chicagos two coal-fired power plants; and the Board of Trade, which trades in palm oil, one of the leading drivers of rain-forest destruction."

PERRO believes all people have the right to live in a clean and healthy environment, regardless of their race and class. Its mission is to spread awareness about this concept of environmental justice and make Pilsen a healthier place to live, work, and raise children.

The Eco-Justice Collaborative

People are listening. Will we have the courage to reach out to one another, building community as we explore new ways to live within our planets limits? OR will we hope for a techno-fix that would allow us to maintain the status quo, while we continue to live beyond our planets capacity? The choice is ours to make.

  • These protesters should have their electricity turned off for the winter.

  • @judomagyar I see what you're doing there. Humor, isn't it?

  • theres my uncle at around 2:00

  • On the Segway? He was actually a nice guy. Kinda animated at the moment, but otherwise very professional and helpful throughout.

  • @dogstar7

no look at 1:51 he was trying to get the people out off the street so the bus could go through

  • Those were people in the day-glo hats were law students acting as paralegal observers. It looks like they don't see the bus that he just waved through. He gives them both a good open handed shove (nice body work there, btw) and dat's how it's done in Chicahgo. ;^)

  • @chwdiv25

"..get to act this way" ???

    They were arrested. Huh?

  • I do have to admit that they were pretty good about limiting the use of force. I've seen other similar protests in which people had a lot of brutal force used against them.

  • You attempt to dismiss everything they do, yet have no actual content in your criticisms. They're going to risk going to jail and all the consequences that go along with that because they are just bored? That's a pretty stupid assumption.

There's a reason people are pissed off enough to protest. It's amazing how any dissent is marginalized in this society. Isn't our freedom of speech and thought something we Americans are always talking up that makes the US such a wonderful place?

  • It's interesting how fast the emergency personnel are on these protesters compared to the way they act when they get a 911 call in a predominantly minority community.

  • How d I begin a protest against protestors.

The stupid women in here wants access to clean air and clean water. She should go home and sample some!

  • @DoubleGauss

You obviously have no idea what is going on around you.

You are mentally lazy and would rather dismiss the efforts of others than to make any effort of your own.

These people made the effort to understand the fraudulent nature of CO2 taxation and then they hade made the effort to speak up about it.

As long as it makes your life simpler, "Gauss", to assume people are dumb and you are a genius...

Just remember, there is an ass in assumption and, on this occasion, that is you!
