I was the first whistle on this drum, I was always told not record whistles, wheather if it's audio or video, especially during a whistle that was used in a healing, this man was being recorded followed me after I charged the first 4 leads, I know as a whistle man I wouldn't like to be recorded and posted on the internet for all to see, if you are native and have some self respect, you would edit this video from the playlist, and again thank you for having respect for yourself and your people.

I see your profile says that you are from canada. Most of all the tribes in canada that I know are like us very rich in culture. All over its been said and asked that we dont record our sacret ways. Blowing a whistle is very sacret to all of us. Healing our selfs and others. All I want to know is Whats so hard about moving the video and do you really not feel that there is anything wrong with this??Lets listen to what we have been taught.

@Neosleven : It is a sign for the singers and drummers that the song is being appreciated in a very special, very sacred, and very traditional way. Someone who has a whistle like this has earned the right to carry it, this is part of the sacred ways and this is why people are objecting to it being shown on video. Hope that answers you and hope no one else objects to me explaining this. Mitakuye Oyasin

First of all...this is a wonderful video...I know there is a lot of controversy regarding recording the Whistle Carrier....I am torn as I have sum Whistle Carrier video of Northern Cree ....we have asked an Elder and he said that is should not be recorded but that now a days sum people do.....this is my question....this video here is one of the most beautiful things you can see....EVERYONE who was at this powwow saw it.....so what is the issue with recording it and posting it?

I totally agree someone shouldnt have been recording this for the respect of the whistle the drum and the people the whistle is blown for.
i agree with most everyone here. i would have turned the camera off and deleted the file. seems willfully ignorant to continue recording this.

@SchleyFam1 Thanks for your comment, I am totally aware of what you people are saying, but I just wanted to record the drum group. As you can tell! Thanks.

this song is an intertribal song, you know some of the dancers who do compete don't always dance for money, they don't judge intertribals, or grand entries, but yet we dance harder then we do during competition, if you don't know some of your traditions which are included during the powwow, maybe you should ask someone before you just go and do things just so you wouldn't bring bad luck to your family, remember the elders told us these things for reason, & it's not to be played with.

Thanks for your comment. I know alot about my traditions and teachings from not only my parents, but otfers as well. Today, it almost seems that no matter where you go for your knowledge and teachings, its always different, and it seems almost like a waterdowned version of what is the truth. You have so many people out there abusing our tradtional knowledge and teachings, who are you to believe nowadays? An elder told me as long as it is done in a good way, then it is the right way.
