We need a marriage amendment to settle the issue once and for all, so we dont have this debate in our face every day. The people get to decide what marriage means. No-end run around the rules by activist judges or grandstanding San-Francisco-style politicians.

4. Whats the harm from SSM? How can Adam and Steve hurt your marriage? A: Who gets harmed? The people of this state who lose our right to define marriage as the union of husband and wife, thats who. That is just not right. A: If courts rule that same-sex marriage is a civil right, then, people like you and me who believe children need moms and dads will be treated like bigots and racists. Religious groups like Catholic Charities or the Salvation Army may lose their tax exemptions, or be denied the use of parks and other public facilities, unless they endorse gay marriage." Public schools will teach young children that two men being intimate are just the same as a husband and wife, even when it comes to raising kids. When the idea that children need moms and dads get legally stigmatized as bigotry, the job of parents and faith communities trying to transmit a marriage culture to their kids is going to get a lot harder. One thing is for sure: The people of this state will lose our right to keep marriage as the union of a husband and wife. Thats not right.

5. Why do you want to interfere with love? A: Love is a great thing. But marriage isnt just any kind of love; its the special love of husband and wife for each other and their children.

6. What about benefits? Dont gay couples and their kids need the benefits and protections of marriage? A: If medical proxies arent working, lets fix that problem. If people need health care, lets get them health care. Dont mess with marriage. A: The issue isnt benefits, it is marriage. Local folks can decide benefits. This is about the meaning of marriage, our most basic social institution for protecting children.

7. Isnt divorce the real threat to marriage? A: High rates of divorce are one more reason we should be strengthening marriage, not conducting radical social experiments on it.

8. Are you saying gays cannot be good parents? A: Two men might each be a good father, but neither can be a mom. The ideal for children is the love of their own mom and dad. No same-sex couple can provide that.

9. What about older or infertile couples? If they marry why not same-sex couples? A: Every man and woman who marries is capable of giving any child they create (or adopt) a mother and a father. No same-sex couple can do this. Its apples and oranges.

So, comparing Homophobia to Racism is an insult to black people who oppose gay marriage. What about directly calling those people selfish hypocrites who are perfectly OK with descrimination as long as it's not their paticular group beiung descriminated against. Is THAT an insult to them? Is that OK? Or how about if I call them morons for their lack of knowledge of history. Is that in insult to them? How about "Homophobe"? How about that?

Hating gays and lesbians is pretty stupid in my opinion. If you are straight.. why do you care? Let them love each other. Personally, how does that change how i love my girlfriend? Shoot, I have enough trouble understanding her, why would i care about some guy trying to love another guy or women in the same situation. I think Keith Olberman's monologue on this subject sums it up perfectly. Also, why do Christians fear their god judging people? Why do they feel the need to in his place?

i'm pretty sick of this issue. to me, it shouldn't even be an issue at all. we have real problems facing us as a people; accelerating climate change and a political will to change it that is 30 years too late, an overpopulation problem that will burden an already severely taxed ecosystem even more in the coming generation, etc.etc. and we are still worried about THIS?! it's stupid. gay couples should have the right to have their unions recognized by the state. it's really that simple.

@Dustylane2009 Thanks. As it is, govt is doing a poor job of serving the people, because there are people who wish to establish domestic partnerships, yet may not. By my method, all religious/moral issues about "gay marriage" are moot. Everyone gets what they want, and very little changes--all while the social engineering of people's lives becomes reduced.

I LOVE your idea. I'm gay and i agree with the idea of having marriage not recognized by the government. Remove the "marriage certificate" and rename it something else. Then allow everyone to sign it. Because the religious idea of the fight opposes other forms of religion. Being that some churches do believe in gay marriage since the bible dose not say "marriage is between a man and a woman" anywhere. And the new certificate will allow all rights and protections to all couple and their children.

I wouldn't be so sure. People who believe in the Bible to the point of zealotry will lie, cheat and steal to uphold their petty dogma. We know this to be true.. so even a voice of reason will fall on deaf ears. As a theist.... I am quite sick by how poor the belief in a deity is represented on youtube. Venomfangx and geerup are the righteous proponent for the "there is a god" argument? Then religion really is in trouble. Belief isn't scientific.. its not rational.. its just feelings.
