which confederate flag there is the 1-3 nationals the bonnie blue the square battle flag and the navy jack which is the one the kkk and redneck display. to me it is not racist becouse alot more people had slaves in the north than in the south becouse only 4% had slaves in the south and i bet y'all dont know that robert e lee was an abolitionist and grant owned slaves and wouldn't give them up until FORCED TO. have a nice day

@hunter1411900. Sir you are 100% correct! I have a truck, and I do fly both flags so I don't know if you saw me or someone else but any ways. I fly the flag because it shows I do not agree with the Govt. I was in the Navy for 5 years in Tenn. My Navy base flew both flag on their flags poles. I don't know if this is true or not but I read some where that the Confederate flag (red with the blue cross and stars) was a Navy flag. Is that right? Plus a black friend has a confederate tattoo (chest)

The rebal flag was created and used for battle against the union forces from 1861-1865. The flag was and still is used by the KKK. It also means something completely diffrent to many white none racist southerners and black southerners, To them it represents the heritage of our people and to honor the fallen patriot Confederates. If you would read true history you would know that the southern states had the right to secede from the union and did so legally. H istory in written by the victors

To me the flag does not mean racism. Unfortunately some idiots adopted the flag and wave it under their racist causes, but we see them waving the American flag at the same time (as stated in this video), but nobody says the American Flag is racist. To me the Confederate Battle Flag is a symbol that can be used by anybody that wants to overcome persecution. The Flag was only used for 3 out of the 5yrs of the civil war and Slavery existed under the American Flag for almost 70 years.

Smileyousee...THANK YOU!!! It is refreshing to see a dialoge on the Confederate Flag initiated in a sensible and non-judgemental manner. Most people ask this question while stating their own views on the flag. You truly asked for an open and honest discussion and I commend you for the manner that your question was posed. Now my response..the more that the Confederate flag can be displayed away from racists and hate-mongerers, the sooner that it can be accepted for it's true meaning.

The confederate battle flag got popular in the 50s, at the beginning of the civil rights era. Not a coincidence.

the confederate flag never flow over any slave ship, but he american flag did; please watch the movie GLORY; it is a great movie showing brave soldiers who died fighting for freedom, but they were march into certain death in a segregated army.....the confederate army was not segregated and over 60,000 black soldiers fought along side their white counter parts; i am not defending slavery but the north was in control of the south for 12 yrs and that is when segregatation was started in the south
