My Cuzzin Jeff is the drummer, but they were all like family. Too bad they arent together any more. I only wish they had a video of their later stuff around 2000.
This really takes me back. I hung out with those guys prior to this video. I shot some of the photos for their self-produced album "Spike 1000" which was produced in '92 and has the studio version of this song. That's Noah Glass lurking in the dark behind Shannon on backup vocals. He did vocals on the first record but left the band around the time they moved to the bay area, before Waste of Skin. A great group of people and a kick in the pants to hang out with. Good times.
i went to see the Union Underground in Dallas and Spike 1000 opened. They blew me away! Had to wait about 6 months till Waste of Skin came out but it was well worth the wait. I miss great bands like this...solid and very original.
Bassist is my cousin's uncle - lol! We just call him Uncle Mike.
Anyway, these guys were so killer! I think it's a shame they didn't make another album. =( I still listen to Waste of Skin from time to time, and not just out of loyalty, either! I actually like the music, and Shannon's voice is superb.
Spent my college childhood listening to these guys at CSUB and downtown at Mannequins. Saw Shannon a couple of times in the Bay Area....The edge and the American Music hall.....Bill always killed it....miss those day. Bart CSUB swim team
Spike 1000 was one of my favorite SF metal bands. I used to love playing their demo on the overhead PA system at Guitar Center (when it was on Mission St.), where I worked, and tried to hook 'em up as best I could when they came in to stock up for a gig. Last time I saw them was at the Great American Music Hall on O'Farrell. That was one of their best performances. With the introduction of bands like Evanescence, Lennon Murphy and Fly Leaf, I think they have a real chance at a return to metal.
This is an amazing song! I got to see them after Waste of Skin came out. Too bad they didn't stick around. I wish I could sound half as good as Shannon. Is this an original song?
@VrondiEyes Mike was a BLAST! I had a few drinks with him after a show. He is a riot.
