Elena argues with Stefan and decides to make a car journey with Damon, making it clear that she isn't Katherine. Once back in Mystic Falls she forgives her boyfriend and returns with him, but Damon did not give up and try in every way to let her understand his feelings. The two brothers quarrel. Stefan meanwhile begins to drink human blood, something that profoundly changes him, and Elena just can't accept his new way of acting: after several discussion breaks up with him definetely. Damon uses in the meantime at the chance to come forward and, despite initial hesitation, after the departure of Stefan, Elena also feels free to confess her feelings.
So, finally, Damon and Elena can be together.
