@WunderDoob Chrysler did not come begging, Chrysler actually owned 15% of mitsubishi in 1971, and over 20% in 1988. Mitsubishi heavy industry owned the majority at 25%. Selling stake in the company (in the early 70's) was how Mitsubishi got into foreign markets. Chrysler was fortunate to have this investment and partnership when the 1973 oil crisis happened.
Cheers!

no.....datsun was always nissan...they just sold under the name datsun in the us because they thoght nissan sounded to japanese and no one would buy it
-
It'd have to be a 1974 since that was the only year they made them.
But that's okay, gut it and shove a small block in there. Won't increase the weight too much, and it moves the engine mass back a few inches. After all, it's just a piece of shit Datsun, no one is going to care.

@MonkiMajyk they are not that different from 240 or 280 most body parts are interchangeable and not all were 2+2's
-
@WunderDoob Not too much antique value to the 260z... I have a 19741/2 260z if you want to pay me a premium for it. And yes its a 260 not a 240 or 280.

@WunderDoob dats"o"n was created by DAT motocar in 1931. Nissan bought Datson and renamed it "Datsun" in 1933. Nissan didn't own datsun from the company's beginning.
-
@WunderDoob True, they were always Nissan, but the bit of them phasing out Datsun because of the pearl harbor thing is true.
-
You have that totally backwards. They were always Nissan, they created the DATSUN brand so Americans wouldn't realize they were buying Nissan products. After Mitsubishi was brought into the market by a desperate Chrysler, Nissan didn't see the point of continuing the charade.
-
Actually Nissan used the "Datsun" brand in North America because in ww2 Nissan was one of the largest contributors to the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy. Nissan and Mitsubishi were both hated by the American public for this, but Nissan tricked people by changing their name. Mitsubishi didn't get in until Chrysler came to them begging for 4 cylinder engines
ok well your not a very good auto tech because datsun is not a fucking toyota its a nissan go back to school and learn something instead of being butt fucked by the tachers so you could pass and another thing he was a smart one your just a dumbass!!!!!!!!!!

Um no Datsun was Datsun. Then Datsun was rebranded to Nissan in the early 80's, I don't care enough to learn why, but that's how it basically goes. Toyota has nothing to do with this.
