The Speaker (Peter Milliken) is the Liberal MP of "Kingston and the Islands". So the Speaker was being partisan, or he just gave up.

Splatto, just curious I thought I saw a video in which Andrew Coyne just went off on Harper for trying to read this article in QP! What was his reasoning for that?

not sure. I haven't seen that video but Coyne is an articulate speaker so i would imagine he gave strong arguments as to his opinions
