  • Fellas... Look, call my drive backhand, old, classic, old-school, whatever, but the main point is this...

My job as a tennis teaching professional is to teach you a style of play with associated strokes & strategies that will allow you to play and enjoy the game for the rest of your life.

If you try to copy & model some of today's touring pros, you won't be playing the game past 50. If anyone out there thinks they can hit a Rafa or Roddick like forehand at 50, you're out of your mind.

  • @webtennis hi brent, i have a video of my backhand, would you be able to take a look at it and give me some ideas please??? i dont mind paying for online coaching !!!

  • @General0208 Yes, for sure. Upload it and then send me the link. Brent

  • @percussionist93 yup, more of a slice shot than a topspin. It's like the grip for a slice mixed with the swing path of a flatter backhand.

  • if you ever watch young players they throw a lot more legs and core into the ball. most of the time they swing so fast their feet will lift off the court. a good example is gasquet who has the best one handed back in tennis.

  • actually nevermind hes not that old. but on his backhand he doesnt put as much shoulder into it so theres less pace

  • to drive on a onehand backhand you really have to hit flat onto the ball. the spin comes more from the follow through rather than making contact above the ball like a forehand. and hes kinda old so he has to open up a bit

  • Forgot to mention that the amount of topspin I now get has dramatically increased.

  • My coach advised me yesterday that my backhand swing path should remain within the 'tram lines', if I stood in the centre - does this make any sense to you because your swing path looks completely different on this clip. Thanks

  • you're one to talk

  • No

Their forehand needs that power for it to be amazing
