Emily, I have not seen this video and I thought I have watched all of them. Too cute! Splash is such a cute puppy then. She still had puppy fur. I also love Kiko jumping over Splash! The chin, head, and paw targeting and holding was really cool as well. I love all the ideas that I get from you! I Love your videos!

how did u teach her to nod the head after bow?
Your videos are great and fun! I was wondering, I see you use the clicker sometimes and then in this video I thought I heard OK as your "marker" word. Do you just switch off and your dogs know both or do you use the clicker to start things or for precision? Just wondering! Thanks!

Thanks! I use the clicker to start nearly every behavior off or if I add criteria, once they know it, they get a conditioned secondary reinforcer like - 'yes'. or 'good girl' followed up or not (depending on the rein. schedule) with a primary reinforcer- food/tug etc, or a secondary rein.- the opportunity to do another behavior. 'Ok' is a release- in the middle of the video I release Splash from a down while kiko is prancing and to end the sustained targeting

I do reinforce my dogs after saying 'ok' sometimes so it doesnt become a predictor of the end of the game, a 'no reward marker' so to speak- which can be punishing to some dogs (Mine especially) So, 'Ok' is a marker that ends the behavior, while the others usually mean keep going. (unless they have to drop something in order to take a treat etc) - I use even more markers like 'yep', 'good job' and 'yay' and they seem to get it.

Great stuff once again! I really enjoy your vids, and the sustained targeting is something new that I have not yet seen.....

The targeting chin and head is really great for shy dogs that don't like to have their face pet (like mine used to). It really builds confidence. First you have to counter condition the hand touching those areas first though, if they seem uncomfortable.
