This concert was held at the Ragasudha Hall in Mylapore, Chennai on 11 December, 2011, on the occasion of the release of the book "Dhuruva Natchathiram" written by Lalitha Ram on Maha Vidwan Palani Sri Subramanya Pillai. Both Akshay and Subramanyam are disciples of Vidwan KS Kalidas who himself was a direct disciple of Palani the maestro.
They are accompanying Dr. Vijayalakshmi Subramanyam and Raghavenda Rao in this concert.
Thani Avarthanam is said to Adhi Thalam, 2 kalai for the Thyagaraja kriti "Ethavunara" in Kalyani. The Thani is being played for the anupallavi line of the kriti at "Geetha Gowri" which is at 1/2 edam (1 aksharam after samam). They do the elaboration for Misra Nadai and then follows up with the Mishra Koraipu a speciality of Pudukkotai bhani. The final Mohra and Korvai is played in Tisra nadai which is a tribute to the Palani school.
Thanks. The result is attributed to the foundation laid by the Palani school and consistency of teaching provided by Vidwan Sri KSK Sir.
