Experiencing poor idle problems after I hit the gas, car jumps & joggles when gas is hit & won't accelerate.

Replaced my MAF shortly after & still experienced problems....replaced MAF AGAIN & BAM! Problem solved.

  • i just washed out my engine bay and i now have the same problem... where did you get your maf sensor? after you revved it a little and when it would fluctuate up and down did you feel the gas pedal moving a little on its own?

  • I got a new MAF from O'Reilly for like $60 & it was warrantied. Yeah I could feel some movement of the gas pedal when the motor would rev on its own

  • Hi

I have the same exact problem. I did change the coils and the spark plugs + some cabling. Can you please tell me how you solved it ?

    Thanks

  • I just fixed the problem by getting another brand new MAF (mass air flow sensor). Runs terrific now

  • Thank you I will try that...did this happen all the time or randomly ?

    Thanks again

  • No problem. But no it was all the time. I purchased a brand new MAF from O'Reilly & it still had the problem but luckily the part was under warranty. I just went back & tried my luck with the new one & problem solved.

  • I would try cleaning it crc maf cleaner...better just replace it...vw maf do not like that at all...killed mine!

  • @sexxyspanish i had the same prob whit my jetta 1.8t the prob was the seal of the head of the engine blow up

  • I have this problem also. Also when I brake too fast the transmission takes a while for it to gear down. Can it be the MAF as well?

  • @Dgriff321 Also, you can check your evap valve by putting a screwdriver head to it and listening for clicking on the handle. Just put your ear up to the handle. It should start clicking within a minute of the car idling.

  • @Dgriff321

Do you have any codes for your maf? Try cleaning it with crc maf cleaner, take the sensor out of the circular housing and spray it with the cleaner and let it fully dry. A lot of people will buy a whole new maf, when they just need to clean their existing maf.

  • I have a pretty nasty leak as well. Do you think it could be the MAF sensor as well?

bad evap valve (n80) or leak in hoses connected to it.

  • I have a 1999 audi a4 and it Idle's really low and when I press on the gas really hard it shuts off. Any idea what it could be? Please help!

  • @PEDROZSANCHEZ 150, 250, 350 would be oil temp on this audi a4. It also has a regular coolant temp light as well.
