Great match. Loved Slaughters selling of the arm and Hansen ruled working it over. I thought the finish was executed well and did it's job to keep Slaughter a strong challenger in defeat.

This match took place on February 9, 1986.

I was really happy to see Hansen this year (he was at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony). He was really entertaining, had a lot of stories to share.

I think Slaughter peaked as a heel in WWF. Solid face turn there too. Good match anyway.

Gary Hart took credit for inventing it in his last shoot

Astute fan as Sarge is getting counted out: GET IN THE RINNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGG!!!

I didn't care for that finish.

Slaughter began his AWA career as the Super Destroyer Mark 2, and made an excellent villain. In the first full wrestling card I ever saw live as a teen boy, I watched Mark 2 pin Greg Gagne...and from there, he had great matches with The Crusher, Billy Robinson and many others. He was a powerful and menacing wrestler. Admittedly, I found him more interesting as the masked Super Destroyer 2 than as Slaughter.

Oh dear Lord the "Team Challenge Series" topped off by the Great American Turkey Hunt. I gotta search for that here on YouTube. LOL
slaughter had 1 of the worst physiques of any superstar from that era..
i was a young naive kid back then, and didnt like him..

If you think Sarge looked bad in this clip he would look worse a few years later during the team challenge series when he really stacked on the pounds.

Crowd didn't buy that Sarge won at all...

That was because he didn't, he was counted out.

The idea was a "Dusty Finish" of sorts there it would seem, which was designed to get the crowd to pop ...only to end up deflated...they failed to fool the marks

It beats me why they call it "The Dusty Finish" it existed long before Dusty became the booker for Crockett. Screw job endings were the norm in AWA title matches for years, it would make more sense to call it "The Gagne Finish"
