I have owned many Les Pauls over the years and have played on three original 59's although never owned one alas but here is my question: Why is it that my VOS Les Paul selected from amongst a large number sounds considerably better than all the Tom Murphy instuments I have played and been loaned? It has better sustain, tonal balance, attack level and vintage type tone.

Tom Murphy is the man behind the 1959 reissue, and it it was his genius design that made Gibson agree to make them. Until just a little while ago, Murphy was one of Gibsons main luthiers, and any guitar Murphy ages is considered an instant masterpiece.

@adrianovanta Your joking right?

who is this man?
why the gibson aged have his signature?

i know Tom personally. straight up cool dude.

Tom sure does make 'em look "CLASSIC".
why doesn't Gibson set the bridge directly on the body anymore?
that's how they were made in the fifties.
