21st of December

I was in the café again the next day, and I was getting a hang of it. Melanie had said it was a great way to get my mind off things, and it made her job easier. I talked to the perky waitress. Her name was Amy, and she was only eighteen years old. I talked to about what had happened, and we had a nice talk. I didn't have much to do that day, but it was a very entertaining day. Melanie, Amy and I were constantly making jokes, and making fun of each other. It had been a long time since I'd had this much fun, and it was relaxing to laugh out my emotions.

Of course I was left alone one in awhile, and my mind would wander back to Demi. I would be standing drying some glasses, and then rage and sadness would go through my body. I was trying to look positively at the fact, that I'll be celebrating christmas with everybody in three days. Melanie and I had talked about me going home earlier, to have some time with my brothers. I'd agreed to that, but first tomorrow.

''Hey Joe, Amy tells me she saw you singing and playing, at some christmas party awhile ago. Can I hear?'' Melanie asked, when I walked into the kitchen. I shrugged, ''I guess I could play a song, but I don't have a guitar.'' I said, and headed back into café. ''Yeah, we have a guitar. I'll just go get it for you.'' She said, and I sighed. She came back a minute later with a acoustic guitar, and handed it to me. I found a stool, and sat on it. I thought for a second, trying to remember a good christmas song. Then I strummed once, as I usually do, and started playing.

''Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening. A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight, walking in a winter wonderland. Gone away is the bluebird, in his place is a new bird. He sings a love song, as we go along, Walking in a winter wonderland. In the meadow we can build a snowman, then pretend that he is Parson Brown. He'll say: Are you married? We'll say: No man, but you can do the job, when you're in town. Later on, we'll conspire, as we dream by the fire. To face unafraid, the plans that we've made, walking in a winter wonderland. In the meadow we can build a snowman, and pretend that he's Parson Brown. He'll say: Are you married? We'll say: No man, but you can do the job. When you're in town. Later on, we'll conspire, as we dream by the fire.
To face unafraid, The plans that we've made, Walking in a winter wonderland.Walking in a winter wonderland, walking in a winter wonderland.'' I sang, while playing the guitar perfectly.

Everybody clapped and cheered, and bowed my head slightly and got off the stool. Melanie was smiling big, and hugged me. ''That was amazing, Joe! You got us at least ten more customers! You should play again later, and maybe we'll get some tips.'' She said, excited.

I, of course, played again, and it did get us some tips. The café was full of people, when I sat down to play one last song. I looked at my crowd for a second, and one pair of eyes caught mine. I recognized her right away, but I didn't do anything. I thought of a song, and thought it would be perfect for this moment. Her beautiful eyes made me realize, that I wasn't even close to being over her.

''The snow's coming down. I'm watching it fall. Lots of people around. Baby please come home. The church bells in town. All singing in song, full of happy sounds. Baby please come home. They're singing "Deck The Halls",
but it's not like Christmas at all. 'Cause I remember when you were here, and all the fun we had this year. Pretty lights on the tree. I'm watching them shine. You should be here with me. Baby please come home. They're singing "Deck The Halls", but it's not like Christmas at all. 'Cause I remember when you were here, and all the fun we had this year. If there was a way, I'd hold back this tear, but it's Christmas day. Please, please, please, please. Baby please come home.'' I looked up hoping to meet her eyes, but she was gone.
