Hillary Clinton tonight defeated Barack Obama in the Pennsylvania primary - the last big prize left in their epic struggle for the Democratic nomination.
Although the margin of her victory was not immediately apparent, American news networks declared her the winner less than an hour after polls closed.
Attention will now focus on whether she had secured the decisive double-digit lead over Mr Obama she perhaps needed to silence calls for her to pull out of a race which many Democrats fear is damaging their chances of re-taking the White House in November.
With 158 delegates at stake, both campaigns have tried hard to lower expectations ahead of the vote, with Mr Obama saying he faced an "uphill battle" in a state where Mrs Clinton's strength among white, working class voters always made him the "underdog".
I am starting to get reports that the Clintonistas, with their attorneys in lock step, have filed hundreds of challenges to disqualify Obama state convention delegates, change the results of the SD conventions, again try to change the results of the Precinct conventions, all to eke out a few more delegates for Hillary in a vain attempt to keep her ship afloat. This is happening in a race that the Clintonistas, for the most part, admit is mathematically impossible to win, but who are unable to stop "because she would make the best president". Their zeal is almost Paulian. Of course, when asked why she would be best, they always cite the 35 years of experience she doesn't have, but that is another matter. It makes little sense to me, but what is really troublesome is that they don't give a second thought to the thousands of new Democratic party supporters that they are willing to drop in the meat grinder, falsely accusing them of all sorts of mischief, from improper ID to outright voter fraud, just to get the win. It's a scorched earth policy that even good friends of mine are engaging in without a second thought to how their actions affect future elections. It's like part of my Dem friends are drinking some weird Kool Aid or something.
This is so old.
