Like I said. I can't believe I'm selling this. Making way for a new amp that I am buying.
1954 VALCO / SUPRO TWEED TUBE AMPLIFIER EXCELLENT FOR GUITAR OR HARMONICA
•One Ten-Inch Speaker
•6SL7-GT, 5Y3-GT, 6V6-GT Tube compliment
This beautiful tweed amp is all original to the best of my knowledge, except for one thing. I switched out the 6SL7 tube for a lower gain 6SN7 to optimize the amp for harp. I will also include a 6SL7 for you guitar players. The one 6SN7 I have has a cracked plastic center pin, although it still works perfectly. I will also throw in an extra 5Y3 rectifier tube.
The 10-inch speaker is probably a Rola, and still has its original output transformer attached. The photos below show all date codes that I could see. The tweed has normal wear and a great patina, natural for a 55-year-old amp. The leather handle is intact with wear, still solid. The back panel of the chassis is super cool white on black with a kind of art deco look. Please see the MANY photos below.
It looks like maybe the power cord is newer, but still has a two-prong plug. I did a bit of research and found that the serial number corresponds to a 1954 manufacture date, but still couldn't come up with a model number for the amp. 1606? Anyone? I imagine it pushes about 5 watts, and is plenty loud for a small room, or mic it up for a bigger room. This is one of the most responsive amps I have ever played through. Totally greasy blues tone. Also, it seems to bring the best out of the crystal mics that I tested through it. I am including videos here of this amp being used for both harp and guitar so you can hear it for yourself. Please note that I have also tested at least 12 different mics through this amp, and it was also used in about 25 videos as a guitar amp. These can all be viewed on my YouTube channel. Search for the word Valco on my channel and they will all come up.
Again, this amp has not been re-capped, re-coned or modified in any way to the best of my knowledge. I bought it from a fellow harp player who bought it as an original amp, and that is the way I have kept it, with the exception of the tube substitution. A totally original amp of this vintage...I don't have to tell you how rare that is. Do I?
I am only selling this because I need money to buy another amp I have had my eye on for a while. I wish I could keep them both, but times are what they are. I love this amp, and I'm sure its new owner will love it just as much.
•Two instrument and one microphone input
•One volume and one tone knob
•14" x 15" x 7" and about 14 pounds
•All Original, Works Perfectly!

Somebody said this is a Supro 1610. Anybody confirm or deny that? The amp made it safely to its new home, and the new owner loves it. I miss it! However, loving my new Cruncher.

That's my lucky old harp. It's got The Funk. I don't use it on gigs, don't worry.
