Children of deceased welders vs. EBMUD
Client: John Anton of Boxer and Gerson

Problem
Next to an active welding site, an EBMUD contractor erroneously ruptured a known underground high-pressure aviation fuel line. Escaping fuel quickly reached the adjacent welding site causing a fireball that resulted in the fatalities of a number of welding subcontractors. Two of the welders we assisted were recent immigrants with common law wives and young children. Initial settlement discussions produced low settlement offers due to the welder's marriage status, recent immigration and job history. The children's case was complicated by the fact that they did not speak English and that their mothers needed money immediately.

Solution

LegalVision created a persuasive five-minute video designed to boost settlement offers. We combined taped interviews of the mother and children with old family videos and photographs to create a powerful and emotional settlement tool.

Result

John Anton used our tape to help negotiate a multimillion-dollar settlement on behalf of the children.
