A nuclear/aerospace engineer with three daughters plays a game with the two older girls that has resulted in them learning the periodic table. At the American Nuclear Society Annual Meeting held in Atlanta, GA in June 2009, he asked them to provide some entertainment during a session about encouraging women in the field. While one group of presenters was setting up, the girls demonstrated their knowledge to enthusiastic applause. Makes you feel better about American chances to compete.

  • @TheLostProphecies i wish i would've come from an educated family that instilled within me a burning desire to learn - especially about science and music. i am an adult and only recently became very curious and fascinated by science. if i only had that head start in my youth i'd be someone right now. i regret wasting away my youth by playing, getting into fights, and watching cartoons all day. the only thing i gained from such is character and a good sense of humor, i must concede.

  • my children will end up like this too since I'm currently studying chemistry at uni LOL

  • @rickholmes68 nope, English is just not my first language so I'm making dozens of weird errours related to my first language.

  • @TheLostProphecies You clearly enjoyed your youth so much you neglected to learn how to spell disgusting.

  • dude, that's discusting... let them play outside and have some fun instead of being dressed dogs... stop stealing their youth.

  • THORIUM ROCKS! - If you go to the EnergyFromThorium website you if you want to know more about why this is their dad's favorite element go there. I'm pretty sure he is the guy who runs the site and that makes this and why he loves thorium a lot more obvious why his kids are so awesome. Suggesting to original poster, tag the video at the end with a link to his website.

  • i used to recite this well, but with a few blemishes..... now i forgot because i didnt refurbish the shortcut.....tnx for posting this

  • This is really humbling - I can only remember the s-block, the p-block, the first row of the d-block, and the actinides as far as americium...
