Tulelake and Lower Klamath Refuges, Wildlife In Danger.wmv

2011 WITH HIGH RAINFALL FOR THE KLAMATH BASIN AND UPPER KLAMATH AT HIGH WATER LEVELS, WHY IS LOWER KLAMATH REFUGE ALMOST DRY?? THE US FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE HAD REQUESTED FROM THE BUREAU OF RECLAMATION WATER RELEASES FOR LOWER KLAMATH REFUGE AND THAT REQUEST WAS DENIED. IT APPEARS THAT THERE MAY BE POLITICAL AN OR OTHER ISSUES AT PLAY THAT ARE PUTTING HABITAT AND WILDLIFE IN DANGER. PLEASE EXAMINE THE ISSUES AND ACT AS YOUR HEART AND MIND DIRECT TO SAVE OUR WILDPLACES. THANK YOU.

10/04/11 Currently water is being pumped to Lower Klamath from Tulelake by the Tulelake Irrigation District. This is agricultural runoff water and the cost of pumping is very high. It is a shame that the refuge is not full in a year like 2011 with High Water Levels in Upper Klamath and all that is needed is for the BOR to open the gate from the River into a canal to Lower Klamath. It is the same old water war, People, Industry, Farming, Fish, Refuges are all needing water and trying to secure water for the future. The refuge has an agreement in the works that would secure some water rights for the refuge. Some are in favor of this agreement and some are opposed. Time will tell if it is actually implemented. I was out to the Refuge the other day and I AM IN SHOCK. It almost looks like a desert out there. What is the heck is GOING ON???? Where the heck is the Bureau of Reclamation located? I live in Klamath Falls. Why aren't people banding together to find the answers to what is going on? WE CAN BE POWERFUL IN NUMBERS. THIS is an ATROCITY. The migrating birds are coming RIGHT NOW and are going to be in danger. There will be no refuge for them. HOW CAN HUMANS be so STUPID and HEARTLESS?
