During WW2, Italian POW'S built this amazing piece of art as their place of worship with very few materials at hand. None of them were recognised as artists at the time, but nonetheless, they surely were!
They also proved that even when life seems at its worst, that some good can eventually come out of it.
The chapel still stands today and should stand forever to show that despite all of our faults, people have it within them to bring our humanity to others.

  • Great history, Tam... Without you making this video I never would have heard this amazing story.

  • @phekwig Thank you. I like reading about unexplored history and these guys definitely deserved their story to be told to a wider audience.

  • I enjoy hearing the history of interesting places. Beautiful works of art! I agree, artists they were! :-) The WW2 generation was quite the generation. From the stories I've heard from that era, it makes me wonder how the generations of today would fair in the same situations.

Always good to see you, Tam! :-)

  • @GreatGig1 What amazes me is the sheer imagination and hard work that those people put into this labour of love with very little to work with. One man's trash and all that.
