Two weeks ago, I watched a movie named clash of the titans.
This is a the movie ticket. It was very exciting and fun.
anyway, Do you know clash of the titans has two versions?
Original version released at 1981, New version released at 2010.
So, today I will compare original version with new version.
The original version of the Titans bases on the Greece myth .
So the story line is similar to Greece myth.
Director of the original version is a Desmond Davis.
Backgrounds of the movies are same, but story lines are a little bit different.
Unlike the original story line is exactly same as Greece myth, the new version shows us a story of the great human who against god.
It's directed by Louis Leterrier
As the story has changed, characters changed, too.
First, I will compare Perseuses a hero of the movie.
In the original version, Perseus accepts the fact that he is a son of the Zeus and receives a help from Zeus. Harry Hamlin played Perseus in the original.
But, Perseus is not accept the fact in the new version. And he want to solve problems on his own without Zeuss help.
Sam Worthington played Perseus in the new.
The second is the Andromeda.
In the original version, Andromeda is former fiancee of Calibos. After Perseus killed Kraken, she got married Perseus.
Judi Bowker played Andromeda in the original.
In the new version, Andromeda is a princess who loves people. But she isn't former fiancee of Calibos and doesn't get married with Perseus.
Alexa Davalos played Andromeda in the new.
The third is the Calibos.
In the original version, Calibos is goddess of sea Thetis's son He became a monster because Zeus hates him. When he couldn't marry because of becoming a monster, he disturbs Andromeda's marriage. Neil McCarthy played Calibos in the original.
In the new version, Calibos changed name and identity. His changed name is Acrisius. Acrisius is the king of Argos, he became a monster because he was hit by Zeus's lightning So he hates Zeus, He disturbs Perseus to kill Zeus.
Jason Flemyng played Acrisius in the new version.
The Calibos changed in remaking. And some characters have been missed or created.
There are some characters who disappeared in the new version represently Ammon who helped the Perseus in the original version and Thetis who is Calibos's mother. Burgess Meredith played Ammon and Maggie Smith played Thetis.
Io is a new character combined of Amon and BuBu. She always helped Perseus and guided his quest. After all, she is a fiancee of Perseus. Gemma Arterton played Io.
Hades is a new created character after Thetis disappeared. He has a really important role that threatens human. Ralph Fiennes played Hades.
And In the new version, Creatures changed their design
It's the orginal. It's the new.
Do you know Secret of the Medusa in new version?
The secret is the actress who plays the Medusa.
The actress is an world's leading model Natalia Vodianova.
In the orginal, Pegasus is an white horse.
But Pegasus changed black horse in the new.
In the orginal, Kraken wear a Poseidon's collar. but In the new, Kraken wear a Hades's collar.
The last one is the Graiai. It's the orginal. It's the new version.
So far, I compared original version with new version.
Those have many differences like special effects.
Personally, I like original version than new version.
Because original version story line is natural. but new version story line is very unnatural.
Director made many new characters for interesting,
But it was a distraction when I watch the movie.
Good points of the new version are background and special effects.
