@kefp Humans are *still* apes, as we belong to the family 'hominidae'.
We did not evolve from the modern species of great ape we see today (Bonobos, common Chimpanzees etc.), rather we share common ancestry.
The reason why pigs are more appropriate for xenotransplantation, and not chimpanzees, is because domesticated pigs are more readily available, easier to rear, and aren’t endangered species!
