This video of the reefing of The Texas Clipper is brought to you by American Diving, www.divesouthpadre.com and www.thetexasclipper.com. The video is taken approx. 17 miles of the coast of South Padre Island, TX. There was 6 to 7ft. seas this day, so the video is a little choppy.
I sailed on her in 1985...great memories...glad she is being used and not just scrapped

You are correct with the purpose and I did say that in the comments section of another video of the sinking.
But...having lived and worked aboard ship...the camaraderie of the crew as we face life and death situations...and the ship that carried us through...
Fortunatly, my ship is on permant display at the Baltimore Maritime Museum.

Sad to see? I think she went down with a new purpose and will provide much enjoyment for many years for all the divers who visit her.
She could've ended up as scrap metal. Now THAT would have been sad.

Nice video! I'm proud to say I was one of the first public divers (#8) to have the opportunity to see her in her new home.
Go CHUM!!!

Having been in the Coast Guard and serving on the North Atlantic this is sad to see. Also, my Dad served on this ship in WWII when it was the U.S.S. Queens.
