I TALK TO THE TREES
Paint Your Wagon : The Musical
(Lerner & Loewe)
Tony Bavaar

I talk to the trees
But they don't listen to me
I talk to the stars
But they never hear me
The breeze hasn't time
To stop and hear what I say
I talk to them all in vain

Refrain;
But suddenly my words
Reach someone else's ears
Touch someone else's heartstrings, too
I tell you my dreams
And while you're listening to me
I suddenly see them come true

I can see us on an April night
Sipping brandy underneath the stars
Reading poems in the candlelight
To the strumming of guitars

I will tell you all the books I've read
And the way I met the King of France
Then I'll send the servants off to bed
And I'll ask you for a dance

Refrain;
But suddenly my words
Reach someone else's ears
Touch someone else's heartstrings, too
I tell you my dreams
And while you're listening to me
I suddenly see them come true

  • from the film .paint your wagon...the only film clint sings in

  • Clint Eastwood Sings I Talk to the Trees, One of the best songs from Paint Your Wagon. Even for a future Oscar winner Clint sure knows how to carry a good tune. Just like Lee Marvin, Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, John Travolta, Jamie Foxx, Robin Williams, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, & Will Farrell, among others who sang in musicals and music biopics ever since. Great singing Clint.

  • @lovelyangel2244 i like lee's wanderlin star scene...just not so sure ya can call it singing... like the photos here...fun movie

  • @leglas69 well that and gran torino, but technically he sings in the credits

  • It's been 40 years since he sang this classic song Clint Eastwood has since made music to some of his films includes The Bridges of Madison County & most recently Gran Torino in which he not only wrote the song but he did it with help of his Musician son of his Kyle Eastwood. if you seen the end credits to Gran Torino, you'll hear a little bit of his singing voice as the credits came on.

  • this here is also right smart of a job.

  • I love this!

  • What a Wonderful Song and video!!! :)

  • Beautiful job neighbor!

    Thank you from Little Meadows

  • @donnah79 Ya gotta love the beauty of Pennsylvania

  • Now i can add Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges to the list of great actors who sings. I've recently seen Crazy Heart on DVD and he sang so great just like Clint Eastwood in Paint Your Wagon.
