Das ist doch fuer dich leider ein kleines Problem, weil Beethoven ein Oesterreichischer Komponist war.
Er ist allerdings der Bester seiner Art. Entschuldigung, mein Deutsch ist nicht wirklich perfekt...

That's a unfortunately bit of a problem for you then, as Beethoven was an Austrian composer. He is, however, the best of his breed. Sorry, my German is not really perfect...

Well here goes the correction (lol!) I understand what you are saying but Karajan, like any good conductor, will have been "involved" with his orchestra for countless hours before any recording/performance. To me it just shows how "involved" he is with the *music* that he has his eyes mostly closed. I love it. It seems like he is fully connected with his players in spirit and doesn't really need to look at them constantly.

If you haven't, watch the movie "Erioca" based on the premiere of this symphony. It kind of shows what some of the reactions likely were. Very well done. There's one hilarious scene where one of the gentlemen is sort of moving happily in time with the music and then suddenly there's a trademark Beethoven shift and he almost jumps 3 feet ha ha ;-D

This conductor is awesome! He actually looks as if he is "playing" the orchestra like one giant instrument.

I wish I could have been at the first performance of this piece to see the looks on everyone's faces when they began to settle down for a relaxing third movement, and then Beethoven throws the scherzo at em. Breaking convention ftw

This piece is the background music to Frank Capra's "Hemo the Magnificent" - the best science movie ever made.

Perhaps Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 by Disney would help you. It is a good start. And don't give up or feel bad. There are sooooo many people who have difficulties with Classical music....All the best!

Obviously you understand nothing about music. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, like all of Mozart's music, is more rhythmical, less expressive then Beethoven music, even his early works like the eroica symphony.

Beethoven music is different, very expressive, and breaks the barrier of classical music. And I thing you should try to get a meaning out of the music, each and every time one listens, the music should not feel different,

Music expresses whatever your mind thinks of.
