Transphobia:

Whether intentional or not, transphobia can have severe consequences for the target of the negative attitude. Many trans people also experience homophobia from people who associate their gender identity with homosexuality.
Attacking someone on the basis of a perception of their gender identity rather the perception of their sexual orientation is known as "trans-bashing", as opposed to "gay bashing".

The only one person in this whole story who seems to have a human heart, other than Lana, is the lady with the yellow mug.I wonder if life would have been different for Brandon had he been born into a more educated, affluent family. He might have then been able to move to a place where people are more accepting of the transgendered, rather than having to navigate life with a bunch of people who can barely speak intelligibly, much deal respectfully with a transgendered person.

I'm so glad i don't live in a place like this. I came out when i was only 12, i have always been open.  People have made remarks and tried to hurt me because i'm a lesbian. But, i have also always had people to defend me. This could have been so much different if there was just one person that was brave enough to stand up for him and with him.
