I walked down from my mothers house in hamble. It was awe inspiring and remains to this day the very best display I have ever seen at an airshow. The 'racetrack' follow the leader type thing was astonishing. It wasn't repeated as a) it was a millennium celebration of southamptons maritime and aviation heritage and b) the mayor of Southampton was killed when a Catalina crashed and sank on a publicity flight to promote the show. Shame really.

Magnificent. The best reason I have ever seen to visit merry olde.

I watched the airshow from my Nans flat on the waterfront (avoiding the crowds lol)
It was just fantastic and I think its a real shame it wasn't repeated.

@pgadeyne Sir, you forget the aesthetics of the Hurricane!

The Spit really was the most beautiful fighter of WWII, and the sound of that Rolls Royce engine, nothing like it, music to the ears

This was taken in 2000. The show was called Seawings 2000. I remember that day ;-)

never seen anything like that b4 awesome.
A real breezy day as I recall, the seaplanes had trouble taking off and landing on the choppy water.
