  • what is all that racket in the background

  • @12valvepower1 The racket was other exhibitors dismantling their stands. The 96 was started up at close of the weekend. HTH

  • why did saab goto four stroke, dkw is why yes

  • Partly true. They needed more BHP for the rally car. Saab tried putting two twin stroke engines in the bay - side by side - but still not enough! Ford had a new V4 engine that they were testing in the US, in Saab 96's, so that no-one else would guess. Then Saab thought why don't WE put that in the 96? Instantly gave the 96 more performance for rallying, too. 38bhp twin to 65bhp V4 in standard forms.

  • There is no exhibit hall in the USA that would allow any car to be started and driven away. Each vehicle would be silently pushed out by highly paid union workers after the event only to have its engine started outside on the street.

  • cough cough

  • @skateordie8392 care for them and they'll last a very long time

my rs125 is an 03plate, might have a different ignition system to yours, not sure to be fair, dont get me wrong my engine didnt exactly sound very healthy running backwards, but like you said its probs down to the timeing

  • frog

  • Very Cool Car!!

  • In order to run this in reverse with the same power, you need special reverse gears cut for the distributor and the crank drive. It would run backward some, but the ignition timing would be so far off, it wouldn't have enough power to move. Ask the DOC in Louisiana that bought my dad's D Sports racer. Video can be found here on YouTube. The entire drivetrain was reversed to get better weight distribution.

  • no 2 strokes do run backwards

ive done it on my rs125
