This is a pretty easy conversion, however, there is a better more complicated conversion. In this engine uniflow ports are drilled at BDC of the cylinder. The exhaust valve is retained for auxillary exhaust. The problem is the intake spring is only strong enough to hold back 45 psi at which point the pressure opens the intake valve before TDC. It is fun to see it run. The exhaust sounds like an engine. That tuned exhaust really bellows. Nice to see the boiler could easily keep up. This engine has its original chrome rings and has been run for four years - no rust!

  • may i ask what u do about the steam mixing with the oil???

  • @xoxoXoieoxox

I just let it mix. The engine has run for 7 years and doesn't seem to care. No rust. But you can't recirculate the condensate. I don't advocate this as being a great design, but it is an easy entry into steam.
