The Royalettes - You Bring Me Down

Another of Pookie's faves from the Royalettes. I can't get enough of these girls. Sheila Ross--where are you? One of the great treasures of girl group singing. Here, the girls get a stab at Teddy Randazzo's strongest attempt to take the 'Hurt So Bad' / Little Anthony success and capitalize on it. Nevertheless, this record, done in '65, is marvelous. These girls were snake bit by the DJ's failure to play anything but the Supremes for 2 years. What a misguided bunch they were. Props to 'Fat Daddy' Johnson who always had platter time for the Baltimore group. Just a great record, and a wonderful group.
