That is an absurd generalization. Fiona Apple is very talented, but there are plenty of young artists making incredible music. Sure, they're not Fiona Apple, but who's to say that she is the pinnacle of music? There would never be Fiona Apple if she just assumed that music could never get any better than Joni Mitchell, for example. You don't see that today because you aren't trying to.

Hm. I really disagree with you, her albums are amazing and they keep getting better. Plus she has already written for soundtracks to movies in addition to her personal career. Fiona is great but I can see why she didn't blow up and really get her name out there all that much, she is more of a behind the scenes musician. Plus visually her performances are not as breathtaking as Florence....
