David Woodman plays his take on the Trad tune "Broke Down Engine", drawing heavily on Martin Simpson's breathtaking version. Check out Petewoodmanguitars.com to see the Highwayman travel resonator in more detail
I guess the style is "slide guitar" (although I'm not a great example of how to do it well - try Sonny Landreth or Bryn Haworth for modern greats). The guitar's tuned to open G (sometimes known as Spanish Tuning) and I use a brass slide, but some people prefer glass ones. Keep practising, and enjoy it, whatever style you end up playing. The more the merrier!
i love that style, what do you call that? and what do you call that metal thing on your pinky... i'd love to learn that...
i've just learned basic chords, finishing learning bar chords, and then i'm starting scales...
do you use a special tuning?
