In his introductions at concerts Luka used to say, that the song was inspired by a good friend of him who had to face many difficulties in his life and who was always trying to make the best of it.
Last year BEING DONNACHA, a beautiful and unique book by and about his friend and nephew Donnacha Rynne was released, with contributions by family members and friends.
DOING THE BEST I CAN was Luka's personal contribution to the book.

I remember this song came for one tour but never made it to a produced cd final. Although last time i spoke with him i asked him about Listen To The River of which he then thought that maybe he should sometime put it on a cd. I guess i'll never get over Luka Barry Moore Blooms Brilliance, not that i would want to.
