Due to requests, I have brought the basic training tutorials back with the absence of C# intros. Here is the first tutorial out of a series of 6-8.

In this tutorial, I introduce you to the basic game engine provided to you when you start a new project.

To get XNA, go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7D70D6ED-1EDD-4852-9...

You need C# 2008 Express, or the full Visual Studio 2008

  • you are hard to follow.

  • @kd0afk I was still trying things back then. The newer ones are much better.

  • I'm practically a beginner at programming, apart from using some sort of language called "GML" (You can look into that, just google Game Maker, it has a drop and drag system and then an actual "programming language"), which has given me a basic understanding of how programming sort of works, I don't really know anything else...

Is there much hope for me? or will I need a lot more experience beforehand?

  • @MrSean490 If you have at least some knowledge on how programming works, you can give it a try :)

  • @Whiplashx86 alright thanks mate.

BTW, does it matter if I use 3.1 XNA, compared to 3.0?

(I don't really know the difference)

  • @MrSean490 For this stuff, not really. I would just go ahead with 3.1 though. It just has additional functionality like video and Avatars, so what you will learn from these videos doesnt really matter on the version.

  • whoa whoa whoa, no C#? then its not really a tutorial... its a description on what I COULD do. I dont want that... I WANT C#.

  • @MrSean490 you should start learning some programming languages. the way i started learning is the same way i still use today when i want to learn another programming language. you should get a microsoft app first (google "Microsoft Visual _______" and fill in blank with desired language, for example Microsoft Visual C#) Then, start out with easy stuff. You will ALWAYS learn from youtube. Search for tutorials on how to make easy applications like notepads, etc and work your way up! (:

  • @MrSean490 i used that 2 xD bad memories :P

  • @jorreerroj Ya
