  • I live in the Netherlands and the "van" is the Dutch word for "from". Sorry about that, I just read right over it.

  • The other technique is known as fisherman's rib or knit one below. The end result is the same; however, when I knit one below the tension is much looser.

  • So, I tried it and now I have less stitches than I started with. What do you do when you turn it around to do the next row?

  • I just finished writing the book "Knitting Brioche". It has step by step instructions about one and two color brioche knitting. I suggest you get a copy and hopefully all of your questions will be answered.

  • this is a great demonstration! I also followed your website and was able to knit the plain brioche. Now I would like to do the "no decrease decrease" but some how can't get it! I had trouble with the "sl1 wyif". Result was I didn't decrease any number of stitches at all! AAA please help me with the "sl1 wyif, k1" please!!! Thanks a lot!!!

  • When you work this decrease you are not decreasing stitches but the area between the stitches is highly reduced pulling in the fabric.

  • does any one know how to do double Brioche Stitch ?

  • Row 1 (WS): *k1, yf sl1yo, rep van *. whats the meaning of van?

  • @briochestitch hey can u tell me what does this means :Row 1 (WS): *k1, yf sl1yo, rep van *.? what is van? i'm so confused.

  • Hello Brioche, I got your book but I knit it wrong. In anothe book I saw instructions said to pick up the stitch UNDERNEATH the stitch on the needle (alternate with the slip stitch). Is this another method for doing the same thing (knitting together the knit and yo) or does the result vary?

  • I have KNITTING BRIOCHE - just got it the other day & was looking for more visuals to back it up. Excellent book to get you started & this video really helped me understand the logic & rhythm of the stitch. Funny to learn that the poster of this video is the same person who wrote the book I just got!! :)

  • I could make that stitch, how sad :( i have no idea what i'm doing wrong.

  • What is the stitch multiple for brioche stitch?
