They had to get rid of the els to get the big trucks into Manhattan and which would mean more buses on the street. Then the freight railroads went broke so they got rid of them too. (More trucks) Then to get rid of the national passenger rail system they took the profitable side of it away, the mail! (More Trucks) Now their fighting high speed rail with a misinformation given out by their think tanks.

Being a avid NYC "EL" historian, i'm really baffled as your video. You mean well, yet your video really is a joke. Even the people around you want to avoid you. You mean well but next time, just state facts. I feel embarrassed watching this.

There is an interesting book titled "By the El" by Lawrence Stelter you might want to explore. Stelter addresses how they failed to preserve little from the structure. He even has pictures in the book from the last day of the El and how they burned the cars down.

nice tribute / they should of preserved this line with the original rail cars and incandescent lighting like a museum with a function / it would have been one of manhattans greatest accomplishments /
