I just had a sick and evil thought while watching this; to balance things out and stop the machine from being activated peter has to be taken out of the picture, right? What if what walter has to do is, with the observers help maybe, go back and stop himself from taking peter from the other side?
(It kinda makes sense if you've seen the movie 'butterfly effect')
