Here are samples of these uncommon locomotives that roamed the hills of Minas Gerais starting in the 70's. These models are one of kinds. The DDM45 model was not adapted from an old Athearn fat body/ blue box as I saw being commercialized in Brazil. Instead, it was made of 3 available commercial models. Many visual modifications were made on the main body donor to faithfully copy the prototype. A good deal of time was spent thinking on it to make DD trucks work nicely. A lot of mechanical modifications were required on trucks and frame. I also reused the original sound decoder. The DDM45 has been in some west coast, and brazilian MR meetings. It draw quite attention and even got a first prize show. The DDM45 has a MRC decoder with 645 turbo prime sound and the U26C a loksound with 2nd generation prime sound. Both models are in 1:87 scale, although, they run on HO tracks instead of HOm. The later one would be correct scale, but where I could run them?
I've seen a picture of this model online....how did you build the drive or modify it?...and the shell reminds me of a kato shell from the detailed rear radatiors..very cool model..i hope they make some in HO but i don't know if tht will happen..great job!!!
