If I didn't believe in God, that wouldn't be a problem. As a believer I understand that the principle taught there is that all people and institutions are subject to God's law, and when anybody in any station transgresses that law he is acting *without* authority. Before the developments described in I Sam. 8, the Hebrews lived under law, but had no secular government (on the Babylonian model). It's better to have law without government, than lawless government (as we do now).

What about those of us who don't believe in the mystical construct called "government"? By what supposed right do those who belong to the cult of the state inflict their religion on the rest of us? Statism is by far the most murderous cult in history.
