Some pieces of footage showing the care provided by Remote Rescue Training instructor Nate Ostis when, during a High-Angle Rescue Technician course, a nearby climber (not part of the course) fell 70' to the ground. A full write up is available under the discussion tab of the University of Utah's Remote Rescue Training's Facebook page.
The opening scene of this video shows the mock rescue scenario that the High-Angle Rope Rescue Technician class was doing as their final culminating activity of the 5-day class. This scene is at the top of the 70' wall that the climber falls from. The black circle that is superimposed in this opening scene shows the anchor chains where the climber's top-rope was set-up. You can hear the climber yell down to his partners "Are you ready?" then you hear/see the whip/snap as the climber comes free from his harness carabiner.
Anyone interested in taking a High Angle Rope Rescue Technician course should highly consider taking one with the University of Utah's Remote Rescue Training. Andy Rich is an amazing lead instructor with vast amounts of experience and an impressive depth of knowledge.
