  • I saw the performance with Shicoff and Guleghina a couple of days afterwards... it was good apart from the Scarpia.

  • I remember I read about some microphones changing the frequency response depending on the distance of the sound source.

    Then again, such a cellphone microphone might have a weird frequency response anyway, so that might over-accentuate patrs of the sound spectrum of the orchestra no matter what the distance is.

    I guess you'd have to ask somebody who was there whether the orchestra was too loud or not :-)

    But nowadays orchestras are ever louder, as everything else everywhere else, eh? sigh

  • the person who recorded this was probably closer to the orchestra than to the stage, since I guess the orchestra was in the "trench" (how is it called?) before the stage.
