Thank you soo much for this! I am a descendant of James Whitcomb Riley & family history is incredibly important to me. While I have always loved his work & collected as much of it as I can, I had not found his most famous, popular works (written in this dialect) very relatable. I didn't really get it. Now I do.

my twins are having to memorize this poem for school...we had never heard of it and were having difficulty putting any meaning to it. what the heck is a fodder or a shock???..then we watched your presentation and have a whole new feeling about it, t!hank you for sharing. We will memorize and recite this poem for school but also we will pass it on to our next generation...thanks to you

God Bless Mr. Kent Risley. This has been my favorite poem since I was very young. My daddy read it to me from a thick old poem bood he got from his school when he was a boy. I really miss my daddy!
