In 1960's India, during my college days, it used to be our routine to turn off all the lights and close all the doors, sit around the radio and listed to Hamesha Jawan Geet on Sunday nights. among our most favorite songs were Devta Tum Ho Mera Sahar and Noor Jehan from Gaon ki Gori. This song, in particular has to be heard in total dark and quiet. Try it, you'll understand what I mean. Listening to this song, just went back to those days!
@BharatGul You are so right my friend. We used to live net door to each other resspecting each others values and traditions. That was my India - the land of amir khusro and Shree Ram.
A heart touching bhajan which always fascinated me. Amazing words, composition and rendition, all seem to be out of world. This bhajan was very popular among the listners of Radio Ceylon and was a frequent choice in her Hamesha Jawan Geeton ka Programme. Very mystereous composition of Jamal Sen and divine words penned by Kaif Bhopali. I classify it one of the best of Mubarak Begum. Than Ajay, your channel is source of my relief.
I am struck by the fact that although the film was about a Hindu couple, the key figures in the movie were Muslims-- the lead stars , the story writer and producer-director, the lyricist, the music director, and of course the divine singers of this Hindu hymn. That PREPONDERANCE of gifted Muslims in one Hindu package here is noteworthy. I consider it a tribute to the composite nature of Indian culture at its best. National integration, anyone?
Ajay Saab , actually speaking , I have both versions of this Jamal Sen composition in my cassette tape but they are NOT from the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK and therefore , the flavour / taste does not bring out the REAL
essence of the song. Firthermore, I never knew it was from 1953 DAERA. You
are truly and very really a M A N of TASTE and you truly know the intrinsic
value of a solo / duet / chorus item . CONGRATULATIONS.
