I've been breeding snakes for years, and I have to say Georgia, the comments below are correct and you're local catcher needs to go back to snake school, this is definately two males involved in combat.

When theses guys fight over a female, this even encludes things like Brown Snakes etc, there is no biting, just wrestling. They're just trying to prove which is the stronger animal and the winner gets the girl.

The actual act of mating is a lot more slower and more intimate
