In response to the continuing crisis in Haiti, a second Sutter Health team of doctors and nurses has volunteered to help with relief efforts. Toni Brayer, M.D., Chief Medical Officer for Sutter Health's West Bay Region, is leading the team and talks about the mission.
Unlike the first Sutter Health team (sent to Haiti in late Jan. 2010), which focused on emergency surgery to repair fractures, wounds etc., this team is providing post-operative and wound care, and will offer help with issues that existed before the quake, such as diabetes and heart disease.
