July 1914: The Austro-Hungarian ultimatium to Serbia is rejected resulting in a decleration of war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. Before the month of August 1914 is over all of the major European Powers will be at war with one another, many believe it will be a short and glorious conflict that will end by Christmas. By the time the guns of the First World War fell silent an era of Kings and Emperors that had exhisted since the Middle Ages had been swept away by the storm. Today the war is becoming little more then a memory and November 11th comes and goes with little care, yet beneath the waves the ships claimed by the war remained locked in combat, shadows of their former glory, who's shattered decaying hulks mark the graves of those who parished with them.

  • Strangely, the USS Cyclops and her sister ships, the Proteus and the Nereus were all lost in the same manner, that is by vanishing. (the Proteus vanished sometime in November 1941, followed by the Nereus about a month later)

  • @UXB1000

The Proteus Class Colliers have a reputation for being unlucky all four were lost at sea, three (Cyclops, Nereus, and Proteus) vanished while making the exact same journey albet 20 years apart and carrying the exact same cargo (Metallic Ore), the fourth, Jupiter, is better known to the public by a different name: USS Langley and was scuttled after being crippled by Japanese Dive Bombers

  • you forgot the HMHS Britannic Titanic's Sister. Also the Carpathia was lost in WW1
